After a few inches of snow and a few days of it being so cold my teeth hurt, it was a balmy 53 and foggy this morning due to all of the snow basically sublimating right into the air. Stuff is melting like crazy. Then I go out to my car to go to lunch. It's now raining buckets.

Apparently the melting snow/ice sent either a rock or a chunk of ice over the edge of the building next to the parking lot, which crunched my rear windshield into a schmillion pieces. So as soon as I closed the door, it caved in with a convincing ka-PSSHHHHH. And then...shhhhhhhhh...yes, it was still raining. Hard. Into my car. ARGH.

Pull out of the parking lot, right in front of a cop. SHIT. He flashes his lights at me, then realizes that only a damn fool would drive around with no rear windshield on a day like this, and must figure I'm on my way home to a) cry like a little girl and b) call the insurance company. He turns off, I get home ten minutes later, and park in our garage. Unfortunately, our garage is a full block away from our actual house, and it's still raining to the point where I think I saw an ark go floating down our street. So full uphill sprint in dress shoes and pants (khaki, naturally...nothing dark enough that would actually, y'know, hide the mud stains), I get in, shed everything, dry my hair, wipe off my glasses, and call Mrs. Dave to see if I can borrow her car. Then the insurance company.

I'll be windshieldless until Saturday at 8. Fortunately the weather forecast looks good.
